Redwood Coast Airport Microgrid
Redwood Coast Airport Microgrid (RCAM)
The Redwood Coast Airport Microgrid (RCAM) provides locally-generated, clean electricity ΓÇö and will be a lifeline for CA’s north coast residents in the event of an emergency. Since roads into Humboldt County are frequently closed by fires and slides, airport energy resilience is crucial. As the first front-of-the-meter, multi-customer microgrid in CA, this project has created a test bed for the policies, tariff structures, and operating procedures necessary to integrate microgrids into California’s electric grid.

Del Norte Floating Off Shore Wind
Del Norte Floating Off Shore Wind
The high winds off of Del Norte County’s Coast may help California meet its goal of producing 25 GW of offshore wind development by 2045. Recognizing the proximity of this critical resource and its potential for local job creation, the Crescent City Harbor District funded a feasibility assessment to map the infrastructure opportunities and challenges as it relates to developing offshore wind near the Del Norte coast.
