The Kern County Department of Behavioral Health has designed a mobile health clinic that takes the continuum of care to the next level for current and future patients and practitioners. This Innovation project will provide new knowledge and best practices to inform current and future mental health practices and approaches.

Edwards Air Force Base Solar Project
Edwards Air Force Base Solar Project

Edwards Air Force Base in Kern County has entered into a partnership with Joint Base San Antonio in Lackland Texas to develop one of the largest solar photovoltaic arrays in the country and the largest solar project ever for the Department of Defense at Edwards Air Force Base. This is a single phase project with construction to likely commence in 2022 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2023.

The Kern High Road Coalition is part of the California Workforce Development Board’s High Road Training Partnership. Through a civic engagement structure, the coalition will assess Kern’s workforce assets, identify priority industry sectors, and develop industry-driven high quality, sustainable jobs.

The CSU Bakersfield Small Business Development Center (SBDC) promotes the development, growth and success of small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs throughout Kern, Inyo and Mono Counties.

CSU Bakersfield Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation

The CSUB Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) recruits student and community entrepreneurs with promising venture ideas and helps turn those ideas into new businesses. CEI offers initial revenue commitments and a 10-week intensive entrepreneurship “boot camp”. The emerging technology lab will augment the accelerator by pairing faculty/student research teams with global-leading aerospace, energy, and agriculture industry partners to work on cutting-edge R&D projects.
